EMPLOYEE POLICY & PROCEDURE

We recognize that in any environment in which people interact regularly, conflicts, complaints and concerns may arise. These issues may be between individuals, with staff or regarding specific policies or rules. This grievance procedure is in place to ensure you have a process to formally log your complaint or concern, be heard and have an opportunity for resolution. You have the right to begin the Grievance Procedure if you believe that any policy has been unfairly applied to you, or that you have been mistreated by anyone professionally associated with the organization.

Filing An Employee Concern:

In Texas, employees can file grievances about workplace concerns, including discrimination, unsafe working conditions, and unfair treatment. Former employees can also file grievances if they believe they were wrongfully terminated.

What can be included in a grievance? A clear statement of the basis for the grievance, Specific facts, Relevant documents, and The desired outcome.

What types of grievances can be filed?

  • Individual grievances: Filed by an individual employee who believes their rights have been violated

  • Group grievances: Filed by a group of employees who have experienced similar treatment

  • Policy grievances: Filed when an employee believes a policy is unfair or violates their rights

If you have a concern about your supervisor or other manager at The Heights, please do the following:

  • Please meet directly with your supervisor or other manger you have a problem with face to face as a first step

  • If your concern is not resolves please ask for a link to our Employee Grievance Form from the Operations Director of the Heights and fill it out online.

  • You can fill out the form in any language.

  • If you do not understand this procedure please let us know.

Staff Procedure Of Responding To Employee Concerns

If an employee expresses concerns The Heights will follow the following procedure.

  • Human Resources will meet with the employee that has a concern to discuss it.

  • Human Resources will meet with the employee that the concern is against.

  • Human Resources will meet with both employees that are involved together

  • Human Resources will manage a response to the employee with concerns

  • Human Resources will manage a response to the employees that the concerns were against.

The Heights Human Resources Department will facilitate the above staff process. Human Resources or The Executive Director will respond to the employee. The Heights Executive Board could also be a part of the process as needed.
